India’s wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu scripted history in the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup 2025. Against Malaysia, Kundu became the first India batter to score a double century at Under-19 level. Kundu reached his double ton with a six. He reached the milestone off just 121 deliveries.
The previous record for highest score for India in Under-19 ODIs belonged to former India cricketer Ambati Rayudu. In 2022, Rayudu scored an unbeaten 177 from 114 balls against England Under-19.
South Africa's Jorich Van Schalkwyk holds the record for highest score in Under-19 ODIs. He scored 215 runs from 153 balls, including 19 fours and six sixes, against Zimbabwe in July 25, 2025. Also, Bangladesh's Soumya Sarkar had scored 209 against Qatar in Under-19 Asia Cup 2012.
Batting at no.5, Kundu scored 209 runs from 125 balls, including 17 fours and nine sixes. He helped India post 408/7.Â
Earlier, Suryavanshi contributed with a 26-ball fifty. He was dismissed by Muhammad Akram. Kundu arrived at the crease in the 11th over. He shared a 209-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Vedant Trivedi. Batting at no.4, Trivedi score 90 runs from 106 deliveries, including seven fours.
Kundu's phenomenal acceleration
Kundu reached his fifty from 44 balls in the 23rd over. He took 36 more deliveries to reach his hundred. Despite Trivedi's wicket, Kundu continued to accelerate in the slog overs. He completed his 150 from 106 deliveries. In the 48th over, he hit Akram for a four and three consecutive sixes. In the penultimate over, he reached his double ton from 121 balls, just 15 more after reaching 150.
