The only Indian to surpass Gill in speed is KL Rahul, who remains the benchmark for consistency in the league. Currently representing the Delhi Capitals, Rahul reached the 4000-run landmark in just 105 innings. This record not only makes him the quickest Indian to achieve the feat but also keeps him at the top of the global standings as the fastest player to reach the milestone in the history of the IPL.

Gill’s achievement is particularly impressive given the names he has overtaken. He now sits ahead of Virat Kohli, who required 128 innings to reach the same total. Other legendary figures such as Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir follow further down the list, with both players having completed their 4000th runs in their 140th IPL innings.
Overall, Gill is now the fifth-fastest batter overall to cross this threshold. While he trails Rahul, he also sits just behind three international icons of the shortest format. Legendary West Indian Chris Gayle reached the mark in 112 innings, followed closely by Australian stalwart David Warner in 114, and England’s Jos Buttler, who achieved the feat in 116 innings.

Entering the match needing just 25 runs to cross the threshold, the former Kolkata Knight Riders player remained composed under pressure. He officially entered the record books on the fifth delivery of the fifth over during GT's run chase against LSG. With this, Gill has joined an elite group of cricketers, becoming the 14th Indian and the 19th player overall to accumulate 4,000 runs in the league's history.
