Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced a major setback after posting a daunting total of 240/3 against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on April 12. Former RCB captain Virat Kohli was absent during MI’s run chase as he seemed to have suffered an ankle injury as informed by commentator Simon Doull. After RCB beat MI by 18 runs in the high-scoring clash, skipper Rajat Patidar and all-rounder Krunal Pandya assured that Kohli will be fine. However, they were not sure about the nature of the injury.
“I don't know yet, but I think he, I feel that he's okay right now,” Patidar said in the post-match presentation.

"I've not spoken to the physio yet but I think he'll be fine. There is nothing to worry,” Krunal said in the post-match press conference.
Earlier, Kohli had played second fiddle in the 120-run opening partnership with Phil Salt. While Salt went berserk, hitting six sixes and as many fours in his 36-ball 78, Kohli scored a 38-ball 50. Kohli was dismissed by MI skipper Hardik Pandya in the 15th over. During MI’s run chase, Jacob Bethell fielded in Kohli’s stead.
Rohit retired hurt
In the MI camp, their former skipper Rohit Sharma had an injury scare as well. He got medical attention after the fifth over but it didn't help him. Struggling with his hamstring, the opener walked off the field after the second ball of the sixth over. He got retired hurt after scoring 19 runs from 13 balls and didn't return for the rest of the run chase.
3rd loss on the trot for MI
The win helped RCB stay in the third place. This was their third win from four games. Meanwhile, MI are now placed eighth with three consecutive defeats from four games. Their net run rate (NRR) took a hit as well.
Kohli, Rohit’s next game
Both Kohli and Rohit will have a few days of time to recover from their respective injuries. RCB are scheduled to take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 15 at home. MI will lock horns with an in-form Punjab Kings (PBKS) at home on April 16.
