Story Highlights:

Subramanian Badrinath labels Jamie Overton as CSK’s best player in IPL 2026.

Jamie Overton picked 14 wickets and scored 136 runs before injury cut short his season.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) failed to as per the expectations from them. The five-time IPL champions got knocked out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season after playing their last league-phase game against Gujarat Titans.

Chasing a target of 230 in the second innings, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side bundled out on just 140 runs. It was not an end CSK would have desired for. Reflecting CSK's 2026 campaign, former India batter Subramaniam Badrinath labeled all-rounder Jamie Overton as the best player from the franchise this season.

Badrinath picks CSK's actual MVP

On his official YouTube Channel, Badrinath said that Overton actually overperformed this season. While continuing, Badrinath admitted that CSK failed to capitalise on Akeal Hosein good form while expressing surprise on Anshul Kamboj's strong performance.

"Jamie Overton overachieved this season. Similarly, Akeal Hosein was underutilized but overachieved. Even Anshul Kamboj overachieved for the most part. No one would have predicted that he would be in the Purple Cap leaderboard anytime in the season."

While continuing, the former CSK player admitted that Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre were huge positives for the Yellow Army. Meanwhile, Urvil Patel was called as x-factor despite his blind slogging, Badrinath put faith in his match-winning ability.

"Samson and Mhatre were the positives with the bat. Urvil Patel proved he is an X-factor and worthy of his price. Though he seems to slog blindly, he gives the belief that he'll win you a match somewhere," he added.
