Story Highlights:

The PBKS vs DC IPL 2025 clash was called off

Reportedly, the match will be replayed once the IPL 2025 resumes

The IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was called off on Thursday, May 8, after air missile and drone attacks on several Indian cities from Pakistan, though floodlight malfunction also hindered the match. However, the PBKS vs DC clash is set to be replayed once the IPL 2025 resumes in a week time. The match was halted with PBKS having scored 122/1 after 10.1 overs. Following this incident, IPL 2025 was subsequently placed under a provisional suspension for one week. However, when the cash-rich league will resume after a week, post both India and Pakistan mutually agreed to ceasefire on May 10, the contest between PBKS and DC will be replayed, according to a report from The Indian Express.

However, details regarding the format of the replay are currently unknown, it is not yet clear whether the game will be restarted from the exact point it was stopped or if it will be played as a completely new match from the beginning.

Talking about the match, PBKS got off to a stunning start riding on Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh's stunning batting. Arya particularly shone, slamming a scintillating knock of 70 runs off just 34 balls, an innings that featured five boundaries and six sixes. Prabhsimran had also cracked a robust half-century, contributing to a formidable 122-run opening stand between the two before the abrupt end to the match.

As the situation currently stands, the official website of the IPL has reportedly not recorded the cancelled fixture between PBKS and DC as a 'no result'. This action reportedly serves as an indication that the match is indeed set to be replayed at a later date once the tournament eventually resumes. Consequently, the points tally for both teams remains unchanged from before the abandonment, with PBKS having 15 points after 11 matches and DC having 13 points from the same number of games played.

For the Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings, securing a win in the potential replay would reportedly carry significant implications for their playoff aspirations. Winning this match would reportedly ensure that they become the first team in the ongoing tournament to officially qualify for the playoff stage.

However, before the tournament can potentially get back underway, the IPL reportedly faces numerous logistical complexities that require resolution. A key challenge is the fact that the precise date for restarting the tournament remains undetermined. Adding to the difficulty is the issue of player availability, as reports indicate that most overseas players have already returned to their home countries, while several local Indian players have also travelled back to their respective home cities.
