Royal Challengers Bengaluru faced Chennai Super Kings in their second match of IPL 2026 on Sunday, April 5, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Batting first after being asked to do so, RCB put up a massive total of 250 for 3 in their 20 overs.
Tim David was the standout performer with a brilliant knock of 70 runs off just 25 balls. Devdutt Padikkal also played well, scoring 50 from 29 balls. Captain Rajat Patidar stayed unbeaten on 48 from only 19 balls, while Phil Salt made 46 off 30 deliveries. Virat Kohli chipped in with 28 runs from 18 balls.

RCB’s top-order batters went all out and hit a total of 19 sixes in the innings. This is now the highest number of sixes hit by any team in an IPL match against the Chennai Super Kings.
The earlier record was 17 sixes, which was achieved by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018 in Chennai. Rajasthan Royals also matched that number in 2020 at Sharjah.

Tim David smashed 8 sixes during his quick innings, and Patidar added 6 more. The two also put together a fast 99-run partnership in just 35 balls for the fourth wicket. Their effort helped RCB become the first team to score 250 runs against Chennai Super Kings in an IPL match.
