Virat Kohli opened the innings for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their IPL 2026 match against the Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. During the game, the 36-year-old achieved a major milestone, breaking a long-standing record held by Rohit Sharma.

What was Rohit's record?

Rohit had scored 1161 runs in 36 IPL matches against Kolkata Knight Riders, which was the most runs by a player against a single team in the league. Kohli has now gone past that mark, taking his total to 1162 runs in 36 matches against CSK.
