Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) head coach Andy Flower has been fined 15 per cent of his match fee for using foul language during an argument with fourth umpire in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 10. Flower wasn’t happy over third umpire not checking different angles when Naman Dhir almost tripped over the boundary trying to pull off a relay catch to dismiss Krunal Pandya in the 18th over of RCB’s run chase.
“Andy was found to have breached article 2.3 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “use of an audible obscenity during a match.” The incident occurred in 17.2 over when Andy spoke aggressively with the fourth umpire,” The IPL staid in a statement on May 11.
However, the replays after the decision showed that it wasn’t a six. The former Zimbabwe wicketkeeper-batter accepted the sanction imposed by match referee, Amit Sharma, after RCB's thrilling two-wicket win at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.
After Krunal’s knock, Bhuvneshwar’s epic six takes RCB home
Despite various turning points in the game, RCB chased down 167 with two wickets in hand despite Krunal getting out in the 18th over. After a four-fer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar hit a first-ball six in the last over to rescue the side and then ran hard between the wickets to get the home side over the line.
RCB on top of points table
The win after two losses on the trot, helped RCB climb to the top of the points table. This was their seventh win from 11 games. The defending champions need at least a win in their next three games to cement their place in the playoffs.
This was MI's eighth loss of the season. They became the second team to get knocked out of the playoffs race. Earlier in the day, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered their eighth loss of the season as well. MI and LSG are placed ninth and 10th on the points table.
