Cricket Australia (CA) on May 11 announced their ODI squads for Pakistan and Bangladesh tour. In the absence of pace trio – Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc – CA has recalled Riley Meredith, Billy Stanlake into the squad. Former Under-19 captain Ollie Peake along and Liam Scott have earned maiden call-ups.
In the absence of Cummins, Mitchell Marsh will once again lead a second-string ODI side. Marsh along with Josh Inglis, Matthew Short and Cameron Green are four players who are currently playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will be available for three-ODI series against Pakistan. While Marsh and Inglis’ LSG has been knocked out of the playoffs race, Green’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) still have a chance to reach last four. A call on Green’s availability for the ODI series may be taken after the last four are finalised. Similarly, Short is part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who are in contention for a playoffs spot as well. Meanwhile, Nathan Ellis is fit to play after missing IPL due to an injury.
