India's young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has cleared the Yo-Yo test at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) a week ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Reddy suffered a side strain which kept him out of the T20I series against England since his return from Australia after Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
This is a major boost for Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2025. They retained the fiery all-rounder for Rs 6 crore. He is likely to join the SRH camp soon. The runner-ups of the previous season will kickstart their season against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at their homeground, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, on March 23.
Reddy's fitness is also crucial as India will travel with a fast-bowling all-rounder for the five-Test series in England after the IPL 2025.
Reddy's T20I and Test record
Reddy made his T20I debut against Bangladesh. He played four T20Is and scored 90 runs from three innings including a 74-run knock. He has three T20I wickets at an average of 23.66. His economy rate is 7.88 runs per over.
Reddy impressed the selectors and received maiden Test call-up as well. On Australia tour, he played all five Tests and scored 298 runs from nine innings in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He averaged 37.25 and scored a century under pressure while batting with the tail at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He bagged five wickets at an average of 38 in Tests.
Reddy's breakthrough IPL season
The 21-year-old made his IPL debut for SRH in 2023 edition. However, it was in the previous season he garnered attention with consistent performances. From 11 innings, he scored 303 runs averaging 33.66 including two half-centuries. His strike rate is 142.93. In addition, he is handy with the ball as well. While he was expensive, he claimed three wickets. He played a major role in SRH reaching the final of IPL 2024.
SRH's only replacement for IPL 2025
Meanwhile, SRH have replaced an injured Brydon Carse with South Africa's pace-bowling all-rounder Wiaan Mulder. England's Carse sustained an injury during ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Mulder has been roped in for his base price of Rs 75 lakh.
