Chennai Super Kings are plying against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash, which is being played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on May 18. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to bat first.
Big feat for Sanju Samson
While batting first, Sanju Samson kicked off the innings in a fiery manner and played a fiery knock of 27 runs off 13 balls, with the help of five fours and one six at a strike rate of 207.69. His innings was fiery but could not last long. Despite his short stay at the crease, Sanju managed to break MS Dhoni's all-time record.

During his stay at the crease, Sanju became the top-scoring designated CSK wicketkeeper-batter of all time in the history of the IPL. In the 2013 edition of IPL, Dhoni amassed 461 runs in just 16 innings, while Samson needed only 12 innings to reach the milestone. Samson took only six balls to complete the achievement, when he amassed 15 runs off Nitish Kumar Reddy's first over of the game.
