Individual fiftees from star openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a nine-wicket dominating win against Rajasthan Royals at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. While chasing 174 runs, destructive batter Phil Salt scored 65 off 33 before getting dismissed by star Kumar Kartikeya in the ninth over.
On the other hand, star batter Kohli played a 62-run unbeaten knock alongside Devdutt Padikkal (40) to register their fourth win of the tournament. Padikkal finished the clash with a boundary in 18th over
Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal's 75 and Dhruv Jurel's crucial 35-run cameo helped RR to score 173/4 in their 20 overs. Jaiswal and Samson opened the innings where Jaiswal played the power-play well, but RR skipper Sanju Samson found it very difficult to score; he got out in the 7th over of the innings, getting trapped by Krunal Pandya for 15 (19). Sanju struggled to score runs, which led RR to finish their power-play on 45/0.
After Samson's wicket, Riyan Parag joined Jaiswal. Both batters were building the partnership while Yash Dayal dropped a sitter catch of Riyan Parag on Suyash Sharma's bowling in the 10th over. In the halfway RR made 77/1.
Jaiswal shared an opening-wicket stand of 49 with Samson (15) and a 56-run partnership with young Parag (30) to lead RR's charge on home ground. He smashed 10 fours and 2 maximums before getting out LBW to Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood.
Shimron Hetmyer joined Dhruv Jurel for the final four over. Suyash Sharma was unlucky today as two chances went down in his spell, and Virat Kohli dropped an easy catch of Dhruv Jurel in the 17th over on longoff. Seven misfields and two dropped catches from RCB fielders today.
Jurel took on Dayal in the 19th over, smashing a six and four in the first two balls, adding 15 runs off his last over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled an outstanding 20th over, giving away 11 runs and took the wicket of Hetmyer.
