He is unlikely to take field on Day 3.

Star all-rounder Shardul Thakur contracted a viral infection during the ongoing Irani Cup match on Wednesday, October 2. It forced him to get admitted to the hospital and he is unlikely to play on Day 3 of the match for Mumbai against the Rest of India. After being out of action for a lot of time due to ankle surgery, the Mumbai player is making a comeback in competitive cricket with this tournament.

As per The Hindu, Mumbai team manager Bhushan Patil confirmed that Shardul Thakur was released from the hospital approximately when play began on Day 3. The report also mentioned that the previous blood tests taken from the all-rounder had revealed no significant illnesses. Shardul Thakur might enter the team's dressing room close to the conclusion of Thursday's play.

After he and Sarfaraz Khan batted for a few hours in the middle, Shardul Thakur's fever worsened from mild on Day 1 to severe on Day 2. With 59 deliveries, the all-around player was able to score 36 runs. He was monitored during the night on Wednesday, and the following day he was discharged

"He was not feeling well for the entire day and was running on high fever, which was the main reason he came out to bat late. He was feeling weak and he slept in the dressing room after taking medicine. But he wanted to bat despite feeling low," a source had told The Indian Express earlier.
