Shai Hope needs one more century to equal Brian Lara for massive ODI record
The West Indies captain scored a terrific hundred against Pakistan and now needs just one more ton to equal Lara's tally in the one-day format

West Indies captain Shai Hope played a monumental knock of 120 runs from just 94 deliveries against Pakistan in the third and final ODI of the series. Thanks to his fiery inning, the Caribbean side posted a massive total of 294/6 in 50 overs at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba.

Hope's knock was laced with 10 boundaries and 5 towering sixes. This was the 31-year-old's 18th century in one-day cricket, making him the West Indian player with the third-most hundreds in the format. He also has a brilliant record in ODIs with a total of 5879 runs under his belt alongwith a blistering average of 50.24.

The West Indies captain now only needs one more ODI century to equal the tally of the legendary Brian Lara, who scored 19 tons in the format in his illustrious career. There is no doubt that Hope has already cemented his place as one of West Indies' finest modern-day batters.

Here is the list of West Indies batters with the most tons in one-day cricket -
1. Chris Gayle - 25 centuries
2. Brian Lara - 19 centuries
3. Shai Hope - 18 centuries
4. Desmond Haynes - 17 centuries
5. Gordon Greenidge - 11 centuries
6. Vivian Richards - 11 centuries
7. Shivnarine Chanderpaul - 11 centuries

Hope's knock played a key role in West Indies' rampant 202-run victory over Pakistan in the third ODI. A fabulous bowling display from the hosts saw the visitors get bundled out for only 92 runs as the side led by Hope went on to clinch the three-match series by 2-1.

Hope was adjudged the Player of the Match for his sensational batting display. The 31-year-old's next ODI assignment as West Indies captain will be a three-match tour against New Zealand which will commence from November 16. It will be interesting to see if Hope will be able to maintain his fine form in the format on foreign soil as well.
