Prithvi Shaw-led Mumbai created history in First-Class history with a 725-run win over Uttarakhand in Ranji Trophy Quarter-Final 2022. The 725-run win is the biggest victory in terms of runs in the format.

The record was created after Uttarakhand were bundled out for a paltry 69 on Day 4 of the second quarter-final. Veteran pacer Dhawal Kulkarni, Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian took three wickets each to wrap up Uttarkhand's second innings within 28 overs after setting a humongous 795-run target.

Only two batters -- Kunal Chandela (21) and wicketkeeper-batter Shivam Khurana (25) scored in double digits. Five of Uttarakhand batters bagged ducks including skipper Jay Gokul Bista.

Mumbai set the humongous target after scoring 261/3 in the second innings. Shaw declared the innings after 58 overs. Jaiswal scored 103 whereas Shaw scored 72 in Mumbai's second innings.

Earlier, Mumbai had a chance to enforce follow-on after dismissing Uttarakhand for 114 in their first innings. Only three batters including Kamal Singh (40), Robin Bist (25) and Dikshanshu Negi (12) scored in double-digits. Three of the batters got out for ducks. Mulani was the pick of the bowlers with a fifer.

In the first innings, Mumbai batters piled on runs after Shaw won the toss and opted to bat first. The start wasn't ideal but on-debut Suved Parkar scored a record 252 before getting run out. Parkar walked into the side in the quarter-final in the absence of an injured Ajinkya Rahane. Sarfaraz Khan continued his fine form in red-ball cricket and scored 153 whereas Armaan Jaffer (60) and Mulani scored half-centuries to help Mumbai post 647/8.

Mumbai will face Uttar Pradesh in the semi-final of the tournament at Just Cricket Academy Ground, Bengaluru starting June 14. Uttar Pradesh defeated Karnataka for the first time in Ranji Trophy history to qualify for the semi-final.
