14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued to impress and this time played a sensational knock for his state team of Bihar against Meghalaya in the third round of Ranji Trophy. Suryavanshi, who was named the side's vice-captain ahead of the domestic tournament, stepped up big time during the clash against Meghalaya and played an explosive knock during the side's first innings of the game.
Suryavanshi ended up reaching the 50-run mark after facing just 33 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and two sixes. This was his first-ever fifty in first-class cricket and he reached the milestone in lightning-fast fashion. He was striking the ball really well and continued to punish the opposing bowlers after completing his fifty.
No century for Suryavanshi
The 14-year-old played many more fine shots and looked set to reach his first-ever century in first-class cricket, but ended up missing the milestone by a whisker. He was dismissed after playing a fiery knock of 93 runs from just 67 deliveries as Bihar lost their third wicket. The left-hand batter's knock included nine boundaries and four sixes, helping his team in starting their innings on a strong note.
