The final T20I of the five-match series between India and South Africa is scheduled to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, June 19. Having lost the first two matches, and then doing brilliantly to come back in the next two, skipper Rishabh Pant will be hoping to win his first T20I series as a captain. But, prior to the crucial tie, it seems as though India and Pant's biggest enemy on the day could be the forecast of rain.
According to weather.com, heavy rains can be expected in the capital of Karnataka, which can turn into a hindrance for either team. According to the Meteorological Department, dark clouds will be hovering in the skies during the time the match is yet to kick off (7 PM IST) and there is a high probability of rain.
Weather.com mentions the possibility of a storm around 3 PM in the afternoon. Meanwhile, there is also a chance of 60 per cent rain in the evening. The temperature during the day is slated to be close to 27 degrees, and 20 degrees at night. This would make it easier for the players to play if rain is not a hindrance. Humidity will also be between 79-91%.
At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, home of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), only eight T20Is have been played. The team that are chasing the game have won five times. It is clear from this statistic that the team that wins the toss would most likely bowl first. However, with rain disturbance a big possibility, the match may be played for a few fewer overs instead of 20 overs.
India have made a strong comeback against South Africa under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant. having lost the first two matches Team India seemed down and out and the Temba Bavuma-led Proteas were seemingly running away with the series. But after that in the third and fourth matches, the Men in Blue showed a great game and brought the series \level.
With momentum now on India's side, rain playing spoilsport will be a massive disappointment.
