Salman Nizar plundered 40 runs in an over in his lightning knock

Salman Nizar tonked 11 sixes in 12 balls and looted 71 runs in the two overs

In a stunning display of power-hitting at the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025, Calicut Globstars' batter Salman Nizar etched his name into the history books with one of the most brutal assaults on a bowler ever witnessed.

Salman Nizar runs riot with 11 sixes off 12 balls in KCL

Nizar smashed six sixes from the six legal deliveries of the innings' final over, bowled by Adani Trivandrum Royals' medium-pacer Abijith Praveen. The over was an absolute spectacle, ultimately conceding a staggering 40 runs, which included a wide and a no-ball that was hit for three. This late onslaught propelled the Globstars' total from 146/6 to a formidable 186/6. Notably, he is the same Salman who CSK called for a mid-season trial for IPL 2025 along with Urvil Patel and Aman Khan. However, CSK placed their bet on Urvil Patel and roped him in for the season.

Nizar's individual performance was nothing short of breathtaking. The 28-year-old southpaw finished unbeaten on 86 from just 26 balls, boasting an incredible strike rate of 330.76. His innings was decorated with a total of 12 sixes, with 11 of them coming from the last 12 deliveries he faced. He brought up his fifty in just 20 balls with the first six of the final over. This explosive finish was a continuation of his attack from the penultimate over, where he had already taken 31 runs off Basil Thampi, helping his team amass a remarkable 71 runs in the final two overs.

The sheer acceleration of Nizar's innings was astounding. Before this late surge, he was batting cautiously at 17 runs from 13 deliveries. In a dramatic shift, he then plundered an additional 69 runs from his next 13 balls to completely dominate the proceedings. This remarkable display of talent comes after Nizar was invited for trials by the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), earlier in the year, though he did not secure a contract.

In one of the most remarkable finishes in T20 history, Calicut scored an unprecedented 71 runs in the final two overs of their match. This incredible surge, fueled by Nizar's exceptional performance, shattered the previous record for the most runs scored in the last two overs of a T20 game. Nizar's blistering knock of 86 runs from just 26 balls is now considered one of the greatest T20 innings by an Indian batter, praised for both his powerful striking and his ability to perform under immense pressure.

For Calicut, this dramatic victory was crucial, providing a significant boost to their inconsistent campaign in the KCL 2025 tournament. The win could propel them into the top two spots on the points table. Conversely, this loss puts Trivandrum, who are currently at the bottom with only a single win from six games, on the verge of elimination from the tournament.
