The buzz around India's coaching staff is getting bigger and bigger after BCCI appointed the Former Indian opener and legendary cricketer Gautam Gambhir as the successor of Rahul Dravid for the Indian head coach position. Earlier reports stated that Gambhir wanted to add Abhishek Sharma to his coaching staff and the latest reports suggest that the Ex-KKR mentor has suggested yet another name to the Indian Cricket Board from the Kolkata Knight Riders' support staff and this one is not even an Indian.

As per the report from Cricbuzz, Gambhir wants to add KKR's fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeschate to his support staff of the Indian team and has suggested his name to the Indian Cricket Board. Ryan has worked with Gambhir both as a teammate and also as a member of the KKR staff. However, the decision will be dependent on BCCI, which has recently shown interest only in Indian candidates for the coaching team.
However, the bigger question is if BCCI recruits the former Dutch player, what will be his credentials? If BCCI rehires T Dilip as the fielding coach, then Ryan would likely be the assistant coach. However, that position is said to be the one for which Abhishek Nayar might join the Indian team.
Gautam Gambhir praises Ryan Ten Doeschate
In video that went viral on the internet recently, Gambhir was seen heavily praising the former Netherlands player. He called Ten Doeschate as one of the most selfless players. He referred to him as someone he could take a bullet for and trust for life.
"When I talk about selflessness, I have never said this in 42 years of my career. And I wanted to say this. The greatest team man I ever played with, the most selfless human being, someone I can take a bullet for, someone who I can trust for life," Gambhir said in a viral video.
"I can tell you this because in 2011, my first game as a KKR captain, we only had four overseas (players) available. And this man had a fabulous 50-over World Cup. And we went in that game with only three overseas players. He was carrying drinks in that game with no disappointment on his face. He taught me selflessness. Ryan ten Doeschate (sic)," he added.
