Pakistan's top-order batter Gull Feroza has been handed a demerit point and 10 per cent match fee fine for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during her side's Women's Asia Cup 2026 match against Hong Kong, China on September 7. Gull had showed dissent to the umpire's decision. After the lbw call, she showed her bat saying that she had edged it in an attempt to play a sweep shot against Kary Chan.
The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Rabab Ahsan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Shivani Mishra and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir. There was no need for a formal hearing as Gull admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment deemed fit by match referee Supriya Rani Das.
This was Gull's second offence in the 24-month period. She had been reprimanded and handed a demerit point for throwing her bat and gloves upon dismissal against Australia in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 fixture on June 23.

The 27-year-old top-order batter's frustration was due to her poor performances in the ongoing tournament. She bagged a duck against Thailand and India. In the match against Hong Kong, China, she was dismissed after scoring just three runs.
It is yet to be seen whether Gull is benched by captain Fatima Sana and head coach Wahab Riaz. Pakistan are set to face Chamari Athapaththu-led Sri Lanka in the second semifinal on September 11 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
If they beat Sri Lanka, it will be their first Asia Cup final since 2016.

Before Gull, skipper Fatima was handed a demerit point along with 10 per cent match fee fine for her aggressive send-off to India opener Shafali Verma. Like Gull, it was Fatima’s second offence in the 24-month period as well.
Both Gull and Fatima would look to refrain from getting more demerit points to their name as it could lead to them facing suspensions.
