The injury concerns for England continue to increase as the Three Lions prepare to start a long stretch from home Summer. In the latest, right-arm fast bowler Ollie Robinson joined the list of English cricketers who are currently battling some sort of nagging injuries. During the recently-concluded County Championship match between Sussex and Glamorgan at Hove, Robinson suffered an ankle injury on the last day of the game. The lanky pacer hobbled off the ground and didn't return after the lunch break.
Sussex coach Paul Farbrace confirmed that Robinson is scheduled to undergo scans on May 22 (Monday) which will provide a better understanding of the extent of the injury.
"He's got a sore ankle and he'll be scanned on Monday to see how bad he is. We knew it was sore yesterday, that's why we got one spell out of him this morning," Farbrace was quoted as saying.
"He tried his hardest really, it was a long spell, he got stuck in. He knew it was going to be one and one only, and then once he was off that was it for the day.
"We knew that he was sore, and it's walking more than anything. It's not actually the running part that makes it sore, it's walking."It's a joint decision between our medical team and the England medical team," Farbrace added.
England will start their home Summer with a one-off Test against Ireland, which is slated to begin on June 1. The five-match Ashes series between England and Australia will commence on June 16. Jofra Archer has already been ruled out of the Ireland Test as well the Ashes. England's most successful Test bowler James Anderson is also battling a groin issue and there is a question mark on his fitness ahead of the Ireland Test.
