The Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi Dar did not get to make his Test debut on Sri Lanka tour but he has got his maiden ODI cap against West Indies. India’s ODI vice-captain KL Rahul handed Nabi his debut cap at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on September 30.
In the previous ODI, Naman Dhir had made his ODI debut and bowled five overs of off-spin, conceding 33 runs.
Nabi replaces Reddy
India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and opted to bowl first. Nabi replaced Nitish Kumar Reddy in the lineup. That is the only change in the side. Reddy had opened the bowling in the previous ODI and conceded 45 runs from five overs picking up the wicket of Matthew Forde in the final over.
Meanwhile, West Indies captain Shai Hope made four changes to the lineup including one forced change as centurion of first ODI Justin Greaves suffered a calf injury. Carty is set to open in Greaves' absence whereas Jewel Andrew, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie have been dropped. Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Shamar Joseph and Vitel Lawes have walked in to the side.

Nabi's One-Day record
The 29-year-old had played 36 List A games before his ODI debut. He has 56 wickets at an average of 27.37 including three four-wicket hauls. He is handy with the bat down the order, scoring 572 runs from 30 innings at an average of 27.23 and strike rate of 111.71. He has a century in the One-Day format, an unbeaten 114 off 82 balls against Hyderabad in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.
Nabi joins rare list of J&K cricketers
Nabi is the third Jammu & Kashmir to play international cricket. The first was spinner Parvez Rasool who played an ODI and T20I each. In 2022, pacer Umran Malik made his T20I and ODI debut. Malik has played 10 ODIs and eight T20Is so far.
