Australia's veteran all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner has been accused of cheating by her estranged wife, Monica Wright. After the high of ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 title win, Australian cricketer has found herself at the centre of controversy.
As per a report by Daily Mail, Wright noticed something was amiss during the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 on Indian soil. It led to Wright flying to India midway through the tournament.
"It was a little bit weird," an insider told the publication. "It was like something was a little bit off with Ash, but we thought it was because of the pressure of the World Cup."
The report further suggests Gardner tried to explain what happened but the relationship couldn't be salvaged. The couple split in November 2025 but the details of the incident have been made public this month.
Wright drops bombshell on social media
Wright shared the photo of the article on her Instagram story and then wrote: “Nah this s*** is too vague. I'll tell you exactly what happened.”
In the next story, she shared the photo of Gardner’s teammate Georgia Voll with caption reading: “This is who my wife cheated on me with...”.
Wright’s revelation has gone viral on social media. 22-year-old Voll was part of Australia's T20 World Cup 2026-winning team.
A few months before the split, Gardner and Wright were reportedly planning to have a baby. The source in the report added that Gardner moved out, leaving just the box of wedding rings.
No official comment yet
Gardner and Voll are yet to make an official comment on the accusations of Wright and the report.
Sydney Sixers, CA knew about the split?
The report also claims that Cricket Australia's National Selection Panel was informed before Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise named Gardner their captain. Three months later, Gardner was also named Australia's vice-captain.
