The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has announced India's squads for ODI and T20I series against West Indies. Amid mounting debate over his 50-over future, former India captain Rohit Sharma keeps his place in the top order alongside captain Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. After recording quiet scores of 11 and 26 in the opening two ODIs on English soil, Rohit silenced critics with a masterful 137 at Lord’s while chasing a formidable target of 388 in the series finale, though his effort proved insufficient to secure a win.
The newly announced ODI squad features fresh faces, with promising all-rounder Naman Dhir and fast bowler Auqib Nabi earning their maiden national call-ups. Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy was withdrawn from the Asian Games roster to bolster the 50-over setup for the incoming tour.
To manage parallel international commitments, India will deploy split support systems as key white-ball players head to Japan for the Asian Games T20 competition during the West Indies home series. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will remain with the senior ODI squad, while BCCI Centre of Excellence chief VVS Laxman takes charge of the T20I unit traveling abroad.
The three-match ODI series will kick off in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, followed by the second game in Guwahati on September 30, before concluding in New Chandigarh on October 3.
Shortly after the 50-over matches wrap up, the action shifts to the T20I format, with fixtures running from October 6 through October 17.
