BCCI announces India's squad for U19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025, Delhi Capitals player to lead after Asia Cup triumph

India will start their campaign against West Indies on January 19.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on December 24 announced India's squad for Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup 2025. Niki Prasad who led India to U19 Women's T20 Asia Cup 2024 title will be leading the side.

India have been placed in Group a alongside hosts Malaysia, West Indies and Sri Lanka. India will start off their campaign on January 19 against West Indies. On January 21, they will take on hosts Malaysia. Their last league stage clash is against Sri Lanka on January 23. 

There are a total of four groups. Each group contains four teams. Six teams will qualify for the Super Six. From Group A and Group D, three top teams will qualify for Group 1 whereas from Group B and C, three teams will advance to Group 2. This will make net run rate (NRR) crucial for each team at the group stage. 

Both semifinals will be played on January 31. The final will be played on February 2.

Niki Prasad (Captain), Sanika Chalke (Vice-captain), G Trisha, Kamalini G (WK), Bhavika Ahire (WK), Ishwari Awasare, Mithila Vinod, Joshitha VJ, Sonam Yadav, Parunika Sisodiya, Kesari Drithi, Aayushi Shukla, Anandita Kishor, MD Shabnam, Vaishnavi S

Standby players: Nandhana S, Ira J, Anadi T

India are the defending champions of the Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup. In the previous edition that was hosted by South Africa, Shafali Verma-led India beat England by 7 wickets at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. The Indian team featured the likes of Richa Ghosh, Titas Sadhu.

Trisha's second U19 Women's T20 World Cup

Gongadi Trisha who is part of the squad was also part of the playing XI in the title win. She scored 24 runs from 29 balls. Last week, Trisha scored a half-century to help India beat Bangladesh and win the Under-19 Women's T20 Asia Cup 2024.
