The Board of Control for Cricket in India has imposed a two-year ban on Bengal leg-spinner Rohit Yadav. The reason behind the ban is age misrepresentation, which will be effective immediately, as per a report by Sportstar. All affiliated state associations have been notified of the decision.
Yadav, who represented India during the Under-19 tour of Sri Lanka in July 2026 and took six wickets, had also been selected for the upcoming home series against Australia Under-19. He has since been withdrawn from the squad. The discrepancies came to light during document scrutiny.

Yadav possesses three birth certificates listing different years of birth: 2007, 2009, and 2010, rendering him ineligible for age-group cricket. His Aadhaar records also showed changes in which he is registered as 2007 with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), updated to 2006 in 2017 and 2020, then to 2009 in 2021. CAB records indicate an age discrepancy of around 27 months.
Meanwhile, CAB has declared 62 cricketers ineligible for registration or transfer in any tournament during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons due to documentation and age-related issues. The list includes former India Under-19 World Cup winner Ravi Kumar, who is flagged for a discrepancy of around 40-45 months, and left-arm spin all-rounder Vishal Bhatti.
The action forms part of wider efforts by the CAB and BCCI to address age fraud in domestic and age-group cricket. The BCCI has been fighting against the ever-rising cases of age fraud. The governing body had proposed an amnesty scheme in 2020, in which a system of punishments was announced.
