The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will not be giving permission to the Indian cricket team to cross borders and travel to Pakistan for the upcoming major ICC event Champions Trophy 2025 which is set to be hosted by them next year during February and March. Sports Tak understands that ICC will be conducting the mega tournament through a hybrid model.
ICC to conduct Champions Trophy in Hybrid model
Sports Tak has learned from its sources that it is highly unlikely that the Indian team to go Pakistan and compete in the ICC Champions Trophy which is currently scheduled to be held in Pakistan from Feb to March. Pakistan has recently also submitted a draft schedule to ICC in which all of the Men in Blue side's matches are set to be played in Lahore but as of now, there’s no official confirmation from BCCI regarding it.

A source with knowledge of the development said, it's highly unlikely that the team will travel to Pakistan for the champions trophy but a final decision will be taken by the Indian government. Hence, a hybrid model is being considered. India may play their matches in UAE or in Sri Lanka just like the Asia Cup last year. However, ICC will also have their own stand on it."
Rohit to lead India in Champions Trophy
BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently revealed that Rohit Sharma will also be leading the Indian cricket team in the upcoming editions of the WTC Final and Champions Trophy next year following the team's success in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024.
"I want to congratulate Team India for this historic win. I want to dedicate this triumph to skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, (outgoing) head coach Rahul Dravid and Ravindra Jadeja. This was our third final in the last one year. We lost (to Australia, at the Oval) in June 2023. In November 2023, we scored 10 wins (in the ODI World Cup) and won the hearts of the people, but couldn't win the World Cup (India lost to Australia in the final). I am confident that under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, we will win the WTC Final and the Champions Trophy," Shah said in a video posted by the BCCI.
