Yudhvir Singh injury Updates: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on June 16 announced Ashok Sharma has replacement for Yudhvir Singh in the India A squad ahead of the Afghanistan A clash in the ongoing tri-series on Sri Lankan soil. Yudhvir did not play a game on the tour and was ruled out due to an injury.

The press release says that Yudhvir reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling in the nets on June 13. Also, he had face a similar issue with his right shoulder on June 11 during fielding drills.

“The BCCI Medical Team, after consultation with a specialist, recommended that Yudhvir undergo a graduated rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to achieve a full recovery from the right rotator cuff injury,” the official statement said.

The timeline of Yudhvir’s recovery has not been mentioned as it will only be ascertained when he reports at CoE, Bengaluru.

Meanwhile, Ashok has got his maiden call-up. He had made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut for Gujarat Titans (GT) under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Yudhvir did not play a single game in the IPL 2026 under Riyan Parag’s captaincy. Yudhvir's last appearance in competitive cricket was for Jammy & Kashmir in Ranji Trophy 2025-26 fixture in February last week. He is yet to make his India A debut. The 28-year-old pacer has played 23 List A (domestic One-Day) games and bagged 28 wickets at an average of 45.07, including a four-fer.

Must-win game against Afghanistan A

After a dramatic loss to hosts Sri Lanka A in super over on June 15, India A face Afghanistan A in their must-win game in Dambulla on June 17. India need an out-an-out pacer who can unsettle the batters with raw pacer. Anshul Kamboj hasn’t been in best of forms, taking a wicket from two games. In the previous game, skipper Tilak Varma included Yash Thakur in the side but he ended up conceding 29 runs from three overs. Ashok, who clocked upwards of 150 kmph in his debut IPL season, may test batters with his raw pace.
