The BCCI has revealed plans ahead of India’s next cycle of matches along with a strategy for the SENA tours amid the injuries. BCCI reveals plans for India’s next cycle of matches; sets out roadmap for SENA tours amid injuries
Speaking after a review meeting in Mumbai, Saikia linked recent injuries to the heavy workload. He noted that several players suffered injuries during India’s recent white-ball series in England, following two months of IPL action. He said:
“Players are having injuries because they have to play a lot of matches… all this takes a toll on the health of the players.”
Saikia revealed that the injury management is communicated well within the team; however, the board is trying to ensure a better FTP so that players can have time to prepare. He confirmed that under the present FTP, the board is exploring ways to manage the load better, including feedback from captains and the head coach.
Looking ahead, he said:
“In the next FTP, we will ensure proper rest for the players, acclimatisation, or some practice matches before any major series in SENA countries.”
SENA tours to South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia are particularly demanding due to different pitches and conditions. The comments come as India prepares for a busy stretch including series against Afghanistan, West Indies, New Zealand and Australia, with an eye on the 2027 ODI World Cup.
