Indian Premier League or IPL is hailed by another name across the globe that is the 'cash-rich league'. The name comes from the amount of money involved in the whole process of this tournament, be it the salary of the players, the auction, the tenders, the broadcasts, or even advertisements. In the auction of the previous year, Australian pacers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins shattered all bidding records and became the most expensive players in IPL history after breaching the 20-crore mark. Now, with the upcoming IPL 2025 auction there is a chance that these records might also be a thing of the past.

They will discussing to increase the team purse, which can expected to be around INR 120 crore in the first year of the next three-year cycle. This means the retention value of each player could also increase and be discussed in this meeting. The salary of the top retained player was around 16-17 percent of the whole purse (15 crore INR in a salary of 90 crore INR). If the same is followed the salary of the top retained players can be expected to be around 20 crores INR.
Discussion on retention of players
Franchises have raised their demand to have at least 8 retentions rather than four. They have cited fan engagement and brand building as two of their major reasons for it, as well as building a team around some core players who can carry the franchise's image. However, some teams still want to keep retention to a minimum. There will also be a discussion on the potential use of the Right to Match (RTM) option at the mega-auction.
