The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to fill up the remaining one spot in the selectors' panel. Abey Kuruvilla, who was recently appointed the General Manager of cricket operations, left his place on the five-member selection committee that was appointed by the BCCI a few months back.
"We know that there is a position vacant in the selection committee and we are working on the same soon will find a candidate who will be appointed. As of now, we are yet take a call on the name but it will be from west zone only. We are aiming for the T20 world cup," the BCCI source told Sports Tak on Saturday (April 16).
"We want a balanced team for this prestigious tournament and will leave no stone unturned to make it success this time for our team. We are hopeful that before the selection of squad of T20 world cup will have new member of the selection panel," he added.
The current selection committee was formed by the BCCI in December 2020. They appointed Chetan Sharma for the role of Chairman of the senior men’s selection committee. Other members of the committee included Kuruvilla, Debashish Mohanty, Sunil Joshi, and Harvinder Singh.
Following India's disastrous performance at the 2021 edition of ICC T20 World Cup, the job of the selectors will be more important.
