India’s junior selection committee has been forced into a late reshuffle of the Under-19 squads for the forthcoming home series against Australia. It comes after Rohit Yadav was withdrawn from both the One-Day and Multi-Day teams due to age discrepancies. Yadav had earlier been included in the squads for the matches scheduled in Rajkot and Ahmedabad.
However, following verification of age records, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the selection panel decided to remove him from contention. The decision was taken to maintain the integrity of the age-group competitions, where strict eligibility rules apply. BCCI, in a statement, said:
“Rohit, who was named in India’s U19 squads for the upcoming fixtures against Australia U19 at Rajkot and Ahmedabad, has been withdrawn from the squad due to age discrepancies.”

Meanwhile, in his place, the selectors have named two fresh faces. Saurashtra’s Aryan Savsani has been added to the One-Day squad, while Haryana’s Tanmay Baloda has been listed in the Multi-Day side. Both players step in as direct replacements for Yadav in their respective formats.
The updated One-Day squad will be captained by Lakshya Raichandani, with Yashbardhan Chauhan serving as vice-captain. The Multi-Day team will be led by Chauhan, with Raichandani as his deputy. The series against Australia U19 offers valuable match practice for India’s young prospects ahead of future international assignments.
