Ben Stokes was seen telling his teammates that the people who watch them play are really lucky and that they will forever be in the memories of these people after the drawn fourth Test in Ashes 2023 which was held at the Old Trafford in Manchester that also allowed Australia to retain the prestigious urn. However, Australian media outlet Fox Cricket called these claims from the England red-ball captain bizarre and also captioned a social media post of Stokes' quotes as 'England captain Ben Stokes on his team which has won 4 of 11 Tests since start of 2023'.
Ben Stokes' pep talks to team
Ben Stokes was seen motivating his team as they failed to win the urn back after rain washed out the fourth Test. However, despite not being able to win the fourth Test England managed to bounce back from a point where they were trailing behind 0-2 against Australia. They did lose the chance to win the urn back but managed to draw the series 2-2 after great wins in the third and fourth Test.

"Everything we’ve done up until now isn’t going to stop because we haven’t managed to win the urn back. The reward for our work isn’t what we get but what we become. And what we have managed to do is we’ve managed to become a sports team that will live forever in the memory of people who were lucky enough to witness us play cricket," Stokes was quoted as saying in the documentary ‘Ashes 2023 | Our Take.’
Ben Stokes' savage reply to Fox Cricket
Fox Cricket wrote ‘England captain Ben Stokes on his team which has won 4 of 11 Tests since start of 2023’ while captioning Ben Stokes' quotes from the documentary. Ben Stokes came up with a strong reply and replied to them by stating that they had their foot on their necks and that they live rent-free in their minds.
“Said this to the team who had watched it rain for 2 days when we had our foot on your throats, just tried to cheer up the disappointment tbh,but anyways rent free and all that,” wrote Stokes while replying to the post from Fox Cricket.
