In what came as devastating news on December 30 (Friday) morning, star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained brutal injuries in a catastrophic car accident. Sports Tak has learned that Pant was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee when his car hit a divider at Narsan border, leading to serious injuries to the Indian cricketer. The accident occurred around 5:15 am on December 30 and Pant was rushed to Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. The Indian cricketer was then referred to Max Super Speciality Hospital in Dehradun.
Speaking to doctors, Pant revealed that he felt sleepy and that is when the car hit the divider. The 25-year-old was driving the car himself and after the accident, he broke the windscreen to get out of the car. In more information by Sports Tak, the 25-year-old cricketer sustained gruesome injuries to his head, back and ligament injury on the right ankle. According to reports, Pant will undergo plastic surgery in Dehradun.
“Rishabh Pant was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee when the accident occurred,” Director General of Uttarakhand Police, Ashok Kumar told Sports Tak.
“Pant was driving the car himself when he felt sleepy before crashing into the divider. The Indian cricketer broke the windscreen to come out of the car. He suffered injuries to his head and ligament injury on the right ankle. He is being taken to Max Hospital in Dehradun in an ambulance,” he added.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami enquired about the accident and asked the officials to provide all possible assistance to the Indian cricketer. CM Dhami also said that that the Uttarakhand government will take care of all the expenses incurred in Pant's treatment and an air ambulance will be arranged if the need arises.
The local police personnel arrived at the spot soon after they received information related to Pant's injury. The police said that Pant sustained injuries but is 'out of danger'.
The 25-year-old recently returned to India after playing two-match Test series in Bangladesh. The swashbuckling left-handed batter was not named in India's T20I and ODI squad for the homes series against Sri Lanka.
