Bengal and Delhi Capitals (DC) cricketer Abishek Porel has found himself in a hot mess over an alleged rape case. The Calcutta High Court has ordered the immediate arrest of the cricketer and seizure of his electronic devices. It has been alleged that Porel has threatened to make intimate videos and photos of the victim public.

Last month, a case was filed at the Mogra Police Station against the 23-year-old. He has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita's non-bailable offenses, including rape and criminal intimidation.

“It is disclosed in the communication dated 6th July, 2026, that one pen drive/storage device is seized from the petitioner....and it is believed that certain materials are stored therein... It appears that accused persons...are required to be apprehended for seizure of electronic devices lying with them so that data stored therein cannot be shared with others…,” the order read.

As reported earlier, the complainant had said that the two were in a relationship that lasted for three years. In 2025, problems between the two started which led to Porel distancing himself. He has been accused of having a physical relationship under false pretext of marriage.

After the FIR, Porel had denied all allegations. He went on to say that the allegations were made as he has been doing well as a cricketer.

Porel’s cricket journey so far

Porel has represented India A. He was touted as the next big thing in Bengal cricket after the retirement of Wriddhiman Saha. The southpaw has been a part of DC for last four Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons. After being a regular in the playing eleven for two seasons, he was given just four chances by DC team management. His last appearance in competitive cricket was in Bengal Pro T20 League 2026.
