West Indies’ white-ball captain Shai Hope got out hit wicket in a bizarre manner in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 clash on August 30. On a wide ball outside off stump by Terrance Hinds in the ninth over of the innings, Hope attempted a switch hit but ended up hitting the stumps.
The video of Hope's dismissal has gone viral on social media. He was dismissed for a 29-ball 39. The wicketkeeper-batter ended up as the top run-scorer for the Guyana Amazon Warriors after Trinbago Knight Riders captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to bowl first.
When Hope got out, Guyana Amazon Warriors were 109/7. They managed to post 163/9, thanks to cameos from Romario Shepherd (15-ball 19), Dwaine Pretorius (16-ball 21) and Quentin Sampson (19-ball 25). For Trinbago Knight Riders, Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets for 27 runs.

Openers go berserk but Tahir stages comeback
In the run chase, Trinbago Knight Riders got off to a flying start. Alex Hales and Colin Munro decimated the Guyana Amazon Warriors bowling attack. Skipper Tahir broke the partnership in the 11th over with Munro's wicket and followed it up with wickets of Pooran and Keacy Carty. Munro departed for a 30-ball 52, laced with six fours and three sixes. After a three-wicket over, Hales continued to hit big. In the 15th over, Tahir dismissed him as well.
Hales dismissed but Russell finishes it off
Hales was dismissed for a 43-ball 74. The former English opener hit seven sixes and three fours during his stay at the crease. Andre Russell ensured there is no anti-climax to the game. Tahir bowled four overs, conceded 27 runs and bagged four wickets. Russell hit three sixes in his 14-ball 27 to take Trinbago Knight Riders over the line with six wickets in hand and 16 balls to spare.
This was Trinbago Knight Riders' fifth win from six games. They remain at the top of the points table. On the other hand, Guyana Amazon Warriors suffered their second win from four games. They are in the fourth position in the standings.
