On September 6, India Test and ODI skipper Shubman Gill made his Sher-e-Punjab T20 League 2026 debut for Sanvir Singh-led Fazilka Falcons at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Gill started well against Ludhiana Lions but missed out on a half-century. He was dismissed by leg-spinner Kartik Chadha who picked by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as their intern bowler in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Lions skipper Arshdeep Singh won the toss and opted to bowl first. Vihaan Malhotra hit Arshdeep for two boundaries in the first over. He lost his wicket to Krish Bhagat in the next over. Gill hit Arshdeep for two consecutive fours in the third over. He did the same against Bhagat in the fourth over. Madhav Singh Pathania dismissed Anshul Chaudhary. Then, Gill and skipper Sanvir hit Sahil Bhaskar for two fours each in the sixth over. Fazilka Falcons were 62/2 after powerplay overs. Sanvir fell to Pathania in the seventh over. In his first over, leg-spinner Kartik Chadha conceded just two runs and kept Eish Rao guessing. Gill took on Jassinder Singh and hit him for the first six of his innings. In his second over, Chadha managed to get Gill out caught behind. He departed after scoring 40 runs from 21 balls, including seven fours.
Chadha had an exceptional outing against the Falcons. He conceded just nine runs from his quota of four overs and bagged a four-wicket haul. Apart from Gill, he got Rao and Pranshu Pratap stumped. The leggie also knocked over Aarush Latta. Chadha's 4 for 9 is also the best bowling figures of the tournament so far.
