Veteran Australia batter David Warner moved past Rohit Sharma when it comes to the nlist of most T20 centuries with his phenomenal knock for Sydney Thunder. He remained unbeaten on 130 against Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL), showcasing that he has still got it. However, despite the stunning knock the team would end up on the  losing side.

This was the ninth time that Warner reached triple figures in T20 cricket and it saw him not only level both Virat Kohli and Rilee Rossouw, but also overtake the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Michael Klinger, Aaron Finch, Faf du PlessisJos Buttler,  Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell for the most hundreds scored in the format.

This was Warner's second century in the BBL. His first ton in the tournament had come back in 2011. It was also his first hundred in T20 cricket for six years and saw him surpass 13,700 runs in the format. Thanks to him, the Thunder posted a huge total of 205/4 on the board after the end of 20 overs.

However, this total didn't prove to be enough as defending champions Hobart Hurricanes chased it down with 13 deliveries left to spare. Tim Ward was the star of the show and played a sensational knock of 90 that ended up overshadowing Warner's ton. Mitchell Owen also played a big role in the chase with his inning of 45. The duo of Nikhil Choudhary and Matthew Wade went on to wrap up the game for the Hurricanes as they continued their stunning form in the tournament.

Hurricanes on a prolific run of form

The Hurricanes currently stand at the top of the BBL standings with 10 points from seven games. They will be looking to maintain their form as they face the Adelaide Strikers on January 9. On the other hand, the Thunder remain at the bttom of the standings with just one win from six games. It remains to be seen if they will be able to improve their record in their next game that will be against the Adelaide Strikers on January 6.
