Urvil Patel remained unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction.

Urvil was a part of Gujarat Titans' IPL 2022-winning squad.

Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel is out to prove a point in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024. Days after breaking the record for fastest century by an Indian batter from just 28 balls, Urvil has smashed a 36-ball century against Uttarakhand which featured Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh.

The Gujarat opener whacked 11 sixes and eight fours in his unbeaten 41-ball 115. He helped his team chase down the target of 183 at Emerald High Scool Ground, Indore with eight wickets in hand and 35 balls to spare.

While Urvil holds the record for second-fastest T20 century, his 36-ball hundred against Uttarakhand is the fourth-fastest by an Indian batter. Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma are placed second and third in the list. Pant scored 30-ball century against Himachal Pradesh in SMAT 2018 whereas Rohit reached three figures from just 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Unsold in mega auction, Urvil can still play IPL 2025

Urvil was picked by Gujarat Titans (GT) for his base price in IPL 2022 mega auction. He was associated with the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022-winning squad for two seasons. The 26-year-old went unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction.

However, Urvil has sent a message to all 10 franchises days after the auction. He can still play IPL 2025 in case any player gets injured and a franchise chooses him as their replacement.

Urvil torments bowlers

Gujarat's run chase got off to an electrifying start with Urvil clearing the ropes with ease. Aarya Desai fell to Rajan Kumar after a 13-ball 23. In the next over, Abhishek Desai departed for a seven-ball 18. Urvil continued to dominate the bowlers and reached his century from 36 balls. He became the 11th batter to score two or more centuries in SMAT. Gujarat got over the line on the first ball of 14th over. Skipper Axar remained unbeaten for 28 off 18 balls including two sixes. This was Gujarat's fifth win from six games.
