Shafali claimed a hat-trick to help Haryana bowl out Karnataka.

Out-of-favour Indian opener Shafali Verma, who has been replaced by Pratika Rawal as Smriti Mandhana's opening partner, bagged a hat-trick in the Under-23 Women One-Day Trophy 2024-25 on March 17. Days after the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 final loss to Mumbai Indians (MI), the Delhi Capitals (DC) player turned up for Haryana in the pre-quarter final clash against Karnataka where she claimed a hat-trick in the slog overs.

In the 44th over, she got the wicket of Saloni P on the fifth ball. She followed it up with the wicket of Soumya Verma off the last ball. She continued and on the first ball of the 46th over, the off-spinner completed her hat-trick with the wickets of Namita D'Sourza. She got the reward for bowling wicket-to-wicket as Namita got bowled for a single-digit score. Despite Mithila Vinod's 87-ball 89, the Niki Prasad-led Karnataka were bowled out for 217 from 49.3 overs.

However, Shafali could not do much with the bat. In the run chase, she was knocked over by Namita. Before returning to the pavillion, she hit four fours in her 12-ball 18. Her opening partner Reema Sisodia and no.3 batter Deeya Yadav were dismissed cheaply as well. However, half-centuries from Sonia Mendhiya (79-ball 66) and Tanisha Ohlan (run-a-ball 77 not out) helped Haryana chase down the target with six wickets in hand and eight balls to spare.

Haryana will now face Madhya Pradesh in the quarter final clash on March 20.
