India all-rounder Deepti Sharma made history during the fifth T20I against Sri Lanka at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. She became the highest wicket-taker in women’s T20I cricket, going past Australia’s Megan Schutt, who previously held the record with 151 wickets.
Deepti reached the milestone with her 152nd wicket when she dismissed Sri Lanka batter Nilakshika Silva during 14th over of Sri Lanka's chase. Bowling a cross-seam delivery on a good length, Deepti beat Silva as she tried to play across the line. The ball struck her on the front pad, and the umpire had no hesitation in raising the finger. Silva took a review, but the replays showed the ball would have gone on to hit the stumps, confirming the decision.
