Deepti Sharma on cusp of becoming the highest wicket-taker in WT20Is

Deepti currently has 151 wickets in WT20Is

India all-rounder Deepti Sharma is on the brink of becoming the highest wicket-taker in WT20Is. She has been in fine form in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka as has racked up four wickets so far. The 28-year-old recorded figures of 1/20 in the first game, but missed the second match due to an injury. She returned in the third game and racked up three wickets for just 18 runs.

Deepti can bag major record

India currently lead the series by 4-0 and will have the chance of inflicting a series whitewash over Sri Lanka in the fifth T20I that will be held on December 30 at the Greenfield International stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. On the other hand, Deepti will have a chance to become the player with the most wickets in WT20Is. She is currently level on 151 wickets with Australia's Megan Schutt and needs just one more scalp to break the record.

Players with the most wickets in WT20Is -

1. Megan Schutt (Australia) - 151 wickets

2. Deepti Sharma (India) - 151 wickets

3. Henriette Ishimwe (Rwanda) - 144 wickets

4. Nida Dar (Pakistan) - 142 wickets

5.  Sophie Ecclestone (England) - 139 wickets

Deepti didn't get to bat in any of the first four T20Is against Sri Lanka and her bowling performance wasn't great either in the 4th T20I as she gave away 31 runs in his quota of four overs. The all-rounder will be hoping to pick up more scalps in the final match of the series where India have so far been totally dominant.

India's have had a memorable 2025

Meanwhile, India are eyeing just their third ever 5-0 series win in T20Is. They previously defeated West Indies and Bangladesh by the same scoreline in 2019 and 2024 respectively and are on the verge of doing so against Sri Lanka as well. The Women in Blue have had a phenomenal 2025 so far as they had lifted their first ever ODI World Cup title earlier in November and they will be looking to end the year on a high and win the penultimate game.
