Devon Conway became the first New Zealand batter since 1973 to score multiple 150-plus Test knocks in England.

Conway and Tom Latham broke New Zealand’s highest partnership record for any wicket against England in Tests.

New Zealand's star opener Devon Conway scored a magnificent century on the opening day of the third Test against England at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Thursday, June 25. The class opener smashed a marvelous knock of 157 off 224 balls, with the help of 22 fours and three sixes, while building a humongous partnership of 317 runs with captain Tom Latham, who also scored an amazing 151 runs off 214 deliveries.

Big feat for Devon Conway in Test cricket

With this stunning knock, Conway managed to achieve a big milestone and etch his name into the record books.

The 34-year-old opener became the only second New Zealand batter in 95 years to record multiple 150-plus scores in Test cricket on English soil. He is also the first Kiwi batter to achieve this feat since 1973. Notably, Devon Conway scored an amazing 200 runs on his Test debut on his debut Test at Lord's in June 2021.

Before Conway, Bevan Congdan was the only Kiwi batter to achieve the feat in England. The former New Zealand captain scored 176 in the Nottingham Test in 1973, before following it up with another superb knock of 175 at Lord's in the same year.

Sheer dominance from New Zealand

New Zealand skipper Tom Latham and Devon Conway completely outclassed on Day 1 of the third Test match, stitching a dominating 317-run opening partnership. The stand also led Kiwi pair to create history, as they surpassed New Zealand's previous highest partnership for any wicket in Test matches against England.

Earlier, the record belonged to Stewie Dempster and Jackie Mills, who had stitched a 276-run opening partnership in the first innings of the Wellington Test, played in 1930.

New Zealand's all-time highest partnership in Test cricket remains the 467-run third-wicket stand between Andrew Jones and Martin Crowe against Sri Lanka in Wellington during the January-February 1991 Test. Jones managed to score 186, while Crowe fell just one run short of a triple century with a magnificent 299.
