Former India cricketer Amit Mishra believes that skipper Rohit Sharma's decision to drop himself during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia was not a PR stunt. Despite the captain Rohit dropped himself from the last Test of the five-Test match series against Australia as he failed to perform in his last three outings in the longest format of the game.

India ODI and Test captain Rohit was brutally criticised by former cricketers for his decision. On the other hand, several Bollywood celebrities also came out in support of Rohit for his brave move. However, his move didn’t go down well with a section of fans who called it a PR stunt. Former India cricketer Amit Mishra recently commented on the matter and said that he will never do such things for PR.

"It wasn't a PR activity; this is what I personally feel. His nature is not like that. I know him personally. He is not that kind of a player who will do such a thing for his PR," Mishra said on Lallantop.

Mishra, who lauded India captain for his move in Australia, questioned who is a better replacement for Rohit in India.

"You tell me, who is better than him at the moment? In Test cricket, can anyone handle pressure like him? Although he is struggling but, you name one player who can handle that pressure. Definitely, you back the young players and that's what he has done. Name one captain who decided to drop himself in Australia?" he asked.

Rohit Sharma is currently leading Team India in ICC Champions Trophy where the Men in Blue are playing all their matches in Dubai. Team India have already qualified for the semifinal of the mega event.
