England's veteran pacer Anya Shrubsole has announced her retirement from international cricket. The 30-year-old represented England in eight Tests, 86 ODIs and 79 T20Is taking 19, 106 and 102 wickets respectively.

The 30-year-old represented her country for 14 years and won two World Cup titles in the 50-over format. The Somerset-born cricketer was adjudged 'Player of the match' for her performance against India. She took six wickets for 46 runs and derailed India's run chase in the slog overs. Shrubsole took four wickets in her last spell including the wicket of Punam Raut, who was batting for 86 in the final.

She ended her ODI career as England's fourth-highest wicket-taker in the format with 106 wickets from 86 games. In T20Is, she retires as England’s highest wicket-taker.

"I feel immensely privileged to have been able to represent my country for the past 14 years. To have been involved in women's cricket at a time of such growth has been an honour but it has become clear to me that it is moving forward faster than I can keep up with, so it is time for me to step away," Shrubsole said in a statement.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be lucky enough to play for England for so long, I'd have been happy with one game. There have been many ups and downs along the way but it was all worth it to be able to lift the ICC Women's World Cup at Lord's in 2017."

Shrubsole made her international debut in 2008 as a 16-year-old. She took three wickets for 46 runs in the final of Women World Cup 2022 against Australia. In her last game, she was the most economical English bowler at 4.6 runs per over and got the wicket of Alyssa Healy, who scored a record-breaking 170.

She was also the last wicket to fall for England as centurion Natalie Sciver was stranded on the other end. Shrubsole went for a big shot and got caught which ended England’s fightback in the high-scoring run chase.
