England Cricket Board (ECB) on September 2 announced their 15-member squad for the third and final Test of the series against Pakistan. Pacer Brydon Carse continues to be sidelined as he is currently being investigated by Cricket Regulator following the nightclub incident last month which led to him being in handcuffs.
Also, ECB has released Matthew Fisher from the squad. He is currently representing Surrey against Yorkshire in County Championship Division One 2026 match. Fisher hasn't played a Test since June 2026 when Ben Stokes and Gus Atkinson were unavailable due to a nightclub incident.

Sonny Baker, who was named Carse’s replacement, has retained his place in the squad.

The third Test is scheduled to begin on September 9 at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Joe Root-led England have already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with a dominating 194-run win at Lord’s.
England would look to improve their win percentage in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27. They are currently placed sixth with six wins from 15 Tests and a win percentage of 34.44. A win will take their win percentage to 39.58.

Pakistan make 7 changes
Pakistan have sent home seven players – Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha, Imam-ul-Haq, Aamer Jamal, Awais Zafar, Ali Usman, Aamer Jamal and Khurram Shahzad – following the defeat at Lord’s. They have recalled Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal. Also, they have handed maiden call-ups to Arafat Minhas, Mohammad Imran Jnr, Saad Baig, Mohammad Imran Randhawa and Razaullah.
Meanwhile, there is a question mark over Babar Azam’s participation as he is suffering from fever. Babar-led Pakistan team’s head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul have been sacked. Babar will now team up with white-ball head coach Mike Hesson to help Pakistan save face with a competitive display or a win in the third Test.
