England's 39-year-old all-rounder Keith Barker has announced his retirement from professional cricket. Barker, who made his first-class debut for Warwickshire in 2009, returned to his boyhood club for a 12-month contract. Owing to a knee injury, his appearances were scarce. He won't play another game in the ongoing County Championship 2026 season.

"It's difficult to put into words what Warwickshire means to me," Barker said in a statement released by Warwickshire. "I first came to the club in 2008 and spent ten years here, before seven brilliant seasons at Hampshire and then getting the opportunity to come back and finish my career where it all started.”

In 2008, he was offered a contract by Warwickshire. Four years later, he was rewarded for playing a crucial role in Warwickshire's County Championship victory. He claimed as many as 56 wickets in the season. He was roped in by England Lions and had dismissed Australia's former opener Phil Hughes. The then-England Lions team was led by Eoin Morgan and featured stars like Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Liam Plunkett.

But, the godson of former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd did not receive his maiden Test call-up. He was eligible to represent both England and West Indies.
