England opener's maiden PSL century overshadows Mohammad Rizwan's unbeaten 105 as David Warner's Karachi Kings chase down 235

In a high-scoring match at National Stadium, Karachi, David Warner made a successful Pakistan Super League (PSL) debut as Karachi Kings chased down 235 with four wickets in hand and four balls to spare. Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan's unbeaten 105 went in vain as James Vince's maiden PSL ton and Khushdil Shah's half-century helped Kings dominate bowlers on a batting-friendly wicket.

Rizwan's ton, Bracewell's cameo

Warner won the toss and opted to bowl first. Adam Milne got off to a poor start and conceded 17 runs in the first over. After a slow start, Rizwan accelerated in the fifth over. Hasan Ali got the first wicket as Shai Hope departed in the sixth over. Multan Sultans were 63/1 after powerplay overs. Usman Khan could not make an impact and fell to Khushdil in the ninth over. Rizwan reached his fifty from 38 balls in the 11th over. Kamran Ghulam contributed with a 19-ball 36 cameo before falling to Abbas Afridi. 

In the 17th over, Rizwan hit Hasan Ali for three sixes. Michael Bracewell launched a brutal onslaught in the slog overs. In the penultimate over, Rizwan took on Milne and reached his century from 61 balls. In the final over, Bracewell hit Hasan Ali for two sixes. His 17-ball 14 helped Multan Sultans post 234/3.

Vince takes control of run chase after Seifert onslaught

In the run chase, Warner got out lbw to Bracewell early in the fourth over. Tim Seifert targetted David Willey and hit him for two sixes and as many fours. In the fifth over, left-arm pacer Akif Javed struck twice to dismiss Seifert and Shan Masood. In the sixth over, Vince hit Chris Jordan for three consecutive fours. Karachi Kings were 76/3 after powerplay overs. Leg-spinner Usama Mir was introduced into the attack and got rid of Arafat Minhas. Vince and Khushdil accelerated when the required run rate was mounting up. In the 11th over, he reached his fifty from 23 balls.

Khushdil, Vince go berserk

In the 16th over, Khushdil hit Chris Jordan for three consecutive sixes to bring down the required run rate. Vince then took down Javed, hitting him for a six and three fours. In the 18th over, Vince reached his century from 42 balls. In the same over, he was run out. his 43-ball 101 featured 14 fours and four sixes. In the penultimate over, Javed knocked over Khusdil. He scored 60 runs from 37 balls. Abbas ensured there was no anti-climax and finished the run chase with a six in the final over. This is the third-highest successful run chase in PSL history.
