Former India cricketer Prashant Vaidya has been arrested in a cheque-bounce case. On Wednesday, Nagpur police executed a non-bailable arrest warrant against Prashant Vaidya over a cheque-bounce case. Vaidya, who represented India in four One Day Internationals during the mid-1990s, was brought before a court and subsequently released on a surety bond, according to a police spokesperson.

He is accused of buying steel from a local merchant and giving a cheque that was later dishonoured. The trader then asked for a new payment, explained inspector Vitthalsingh Rajput of the Bajaj Nagar police station.

When Vaidya allegedly declined to settle the payment, the trader took legal action, leading to the court issuing a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him for missing court appearances, the officer noted. Vaidya is presently the head of the cricket development committee at the Vidarbha Cricket Association.

Vaidya, who previously worked as a talent scout for MI junior with the Mumbai Indians, played as a right-arm fast bowler representing Vidarbha and Bengal during his active days.

He had a brief stint in international cricket, securing four wickets across four ODIs. On the domestic front, Vaidya claimed 171 wickets in 56 first-class matches.
