India once again refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy after beating Sri Lanka in the final. It was a familiar scene in Dubai, which reminded everyone of when India’s men, led by Suryakumar Yadav, won the title at the same venue in September.
India won the record eighth Women’s Asia Cup title, and the presentation ceremony was delayed as Harmanpreet Kaur’s side refused to accept the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, Moshin Naqvi. He is also the PCB chief and interior minister of Pakistan.
Naqvi waited at the podium before he left the venue abruptly. He presented the runners-up cheque to Sri Lanka as the ceremony got delayed for almost an hour. On the other hand, the Indian women's side celebrated on their own on the sidelines in the presence of BCCI secretary Saikia and vice president Rajeev Shukla.

In an exclusive interview with Sports Tak, Saikia said the Indian side was firmly against receiving the Asia Cup trophy from ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Despite this stance, Naqvi was offered alternative arrangements.
The BCCI proposed that ACC deputy chair Khalid Al Zarooni hand over the trophy to the Indian team; however, Naqvi rejected the suggestion.
A second option, in line with recent practice allowing a representative from the winning board to present the trophy, was also put forward. Naqvi remained adamant, and the Indian team refused to compromise, ultimately declining to accept the trophy.
The standoff highlights ongoing tensions surrounding the presentation ceremony after India’s victory in the tournament. Meanwhile, Pakistan women lost to India Women by seven wickets after being borld out for 55 runs in 18.1 overs to get knocked out of the tournament.
